Folktales

This week in reading we are studying folktales and fables. We talked about how many folktales are passed down from generation to generation. They may also explain how something began or how it was created. In class, I gave the students a title of a folktale. Their job was to use their imagination to create their own story to go along with it. They did a wonderful job!

Since many folktales are passed through word of mouth, there is a possibility that they may change. To demonstrate this, we played a game of Telephone. It was crazy to see how a simple sentence could change so much after passing around a circle of 26 kids!

We played a few rounds, but my favorite one was "Mrs. Kellett is a supermodel." (It started out as "Luke is a monkey."
