Pirate Day

Arggghhh! Friday was Pirate Day and we had a BLAST. (By the way, those hats you see are our Countdown Crowns from our End of the Year Countdown. Only 7 more days!!)

We started the day with some paint...

And created these adorable little pirates!

We also played a few games of Sharks and Minnows. Here are my minnows getting ready...

And the BIG, BAD shark!!

We also love Minute to Win It challenges. The object of the game is to hook as many pretzels as you can, using ONLY your pirate hook. It was harder than it seemed!

Yesterday, for our End of the Year Countdown we got this..

The kids loved writing compliments to each other so they asked if we could do it one more day. Of course I didn't mind. On Friday, they had the chance to read the compliments others wrote them. I wish you could have been in the room to see their faces and hear their excitement. It's always nice to read nice things about you!

Olympic Day

On Thursday, we had Olympic Day (since the summer Olympics are coming up!). We talked about the Opening Ceremony and how each country has a chance to walk with their flag to cheer on their team. SO, we had our own version! Each student made their own torch, a flag to represent them, and a cute, leaf crown. I played the music typically played at the ceremony, and we had our own little parade in the classroom!

Of course we had to play a few games too!! After being outside all day for Field Day the day before, we played in indoor games. This was was Long Reach. The kids had to kneel at the edge of the paper and keeping their bottom on their feet, they had to reach as far as they could. They marked it with their initals.

Long Step -- See how long they could step out

High Jump - see how far they could jump

Cotton Ball Shot Put - See how far they could throw their cotton ball

Straw Javelin Throw - See how far they could throw their straw

Everyone was a winner -- as long as they had fun! I gave each one of them a medal!
