Now and Then

Our big Social Studies Unit for this quarter is Communities. We spent some time last week talking about what a community is and some places in our community (Powdersville). This week, we focused on how a community can change. The kids were divided into 5 groups to do some research. Each group got a book with topics like Toys and Games, Communication, Homes, Transportation, and Schools. The books compared how things were like back then to how they are now. The groups were responsible for creating a poster and teaching the class about the differences! They did such a GREAT job of working together AND they were able to give us so much information when it came time to share! I think they were even surprised at what they learned.
