This morning we did 2 different art projects. For the first project, we used shaving cream and paint. We put a bit of shaving cream in a pan and then squirted some paint in it. After that, we laid a piece of paper on top and jiggled it around a bit. The last step was to take a popsicle stick and scrape the extra shaving cream off. The paint left such a neat design on the paper!
The 2nd project we did was Bubble Art. I mixed some bubble solution and paint. The kids blew bubbles into the mixture so that the bubbles were above the bowl. They laid their paper on top so the bubbles would pop on the paper.
We read a book called Art's Supplies which introduced us to some popular supplies artists use. The book was pretty funny -- the supplies came to life! Afterwards, we discussed collages and how artists can use many different supplies to create their art. I set up 6 different art stations in the room -- markers, crayons, colored pencils, sequins, and ink pads (for fingerprints). The kids got a piece of white paper and spent 5 minutes in each station to crate their pictures. They were so creative!!
Finished Projects:
Last, for a little bit of math, we played hopscotch! We took the sidewalk chalk outside and in partners, we drew hopscotch boards. We filled our boxes with different numbers. As we jumped, we would add those numbers together. A fun way to practice those math facts!!
It was a messy day, but I hope everyone had fun!!
