Similes

Descriptive writing has been the topic in writing this week.We learned how we can compare 2 things using similes. We read a book with some great examples, My Dog is as Smelly As Dirty Socks. Afterwards the students created a simile to describe themselves.

I'm as strong as a wrestler. - Harry

 I'm as sneaky as a snake. - Dimitri

 I'm [as] funny as a clown. - Julien

 I'm as sweet as pie. - Destiny

I'm as sweet as candy. - Aaron

I'm as smart as an owl. - Kellyanne

 I'm as tall as a giraffe. - Katie Beth

I'm as clumsy as a dog. - Reagan

The next day we practiced with similes again. We read another great book FULL of similes, Crazy Like a Fox. Then we practiced comparing our friends in the classroom using similes. They were so creative and did such a great job. We enjoyed hearing what others had to say about us!
