My Elf Is...

We continued our talk on adjectives and describing in writing today. We read My Dog Lyle which is about a little girl who absolutely adores her dog. She uses so many adjectives and descriptions to make sure we understand why he is her favorite friend. The description keeps adding words each page and by the end of the story, Katie Beth counted 14 adjectives in one sentence!!

I thought since this is our last week with our friend Buddy, why not describe him? So we cut out an elf pattern and added adjectives to describe Buddy and his behavior!

These are not ALL of the elf adjectives, but just a few! They are all hanging up in classroom so you can see them on Friday at our Christmas Party!

I know you can't tell what's written on the ornaments, but we made a contraction tree! I loved the way it turned out. It's the prefect decoration for our door!!

One More North Pole Brochure

Reagan had to finish her brochure, but here is the final product!!

Winter Celebrations

We are spending some time learning about different cultures and some of their winter celebrations. This week we learned about Hanukkah. The kids were amazed that it was an 8 day celebration!! We learned how to play the Dreidel game, which is a popular activity during Hanukkah. The kids seemed to really enjoy it! They wanted to play again the next day!

After we spent some time playing, we were hungry. So, using marshmallows, a pretzel stick, and a Hershey Kiss, we made our own, edible dreidels. We tried spinning them, but we all agreed they were better off in our bellies!
